At Catapult we are currently supporting one of our members a residential and commercial plumbing and HVAC company in their search for an HR & Payroll Representative. This is a full time position requiring an occasional onsite presence in either the Raleigh NC or Burlington NC area.
Position Summary:
The HR & Payroll Representative will assist in the successful partnership and coordination of Human Resources initiatives throughout the firm. Responsibilities will include various aspects of recruitment payroll benefits administration policy interpretation and other administration duties within HR. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented have excellent independent judgment and communication skills and the ability to prioritize tasks appropriately. This position also requires the ability to exercise maximum discretion on all confidential matters.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage full employee life cycle tracking; onboarding and termination paperwork including COBRA notifications.
- Update and maintain accurate employee information in the HRIS to ensure timely updates to compensation position and employment status and personal information.
- Review and process payroll data including hours worked commissions bonuses garnishments and tax withholdings.
- Generate and submit payroll reports related to earnings taxes and deductions.
- Post open staff positions on HRIS Recruitment platform and other job boards as needed.
- Review resumes verify references and employment history and coordinate with managers to schedule interviews for qualified candidates.
- Liais between candidates appropriate management and Human Resources Manager related to position status.
- Monitor and accurately maintain changes to employee benefits in HRIS and assist with annual open enrollment.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Understanding and knowledge of employment and labor law as well as other legal requirements related to human resources and payroll.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the desire to work collaboratively with other team members.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Aptitude for reporting and analyzing HR and payroll information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
- Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment.
- Ability to manipulate data in Excel to create complex reports.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and escalate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity professionalism and confidentiality
Education & Experience:
- Prior experience in a multi trade multi state service or retail environment is preferred.
- Experience administering the full-cycle payroll process required preferably within Paychex or Workday
- A combination of the following education and experience:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources or Business Administration plus 3 years of Human Resources experience OR
- Associates degree in Human Resources plus 5 years of Human Resources experience OR
- HS Diploma plus 7 years of Human Resources experience.
