Job Description

POSITION SPECIFICS

The Penn State College of Earth and Mineral Sciences is seeking a self-motivated detail-oriented Marketing and Communications Specialist to join the strategic communications team to create and share impactful relevant and engaging narratives designed to generate awareness and interest about the college.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

    Bachelors Degree 3 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

    Reporting to the colleges director of strategic communications this position is responsible for implementing a multi-channel approach to distributing news about the colleges research discoveries academics and other notable achievements. Typical areas of focus include planning writing distribution and measurement activities associated with journalistic-style news feature research and magazine articles that highlight the activities and accomplishments of the colleges faculty staff students alumni corporate partners and other stakeholders. Also includes some writing for websites and social media channels.

    What we are looking for:

    • Strong writing and editing skills and a proven track record of translating research and technical topics into content appropriate for diverse communities formats and audiences.

    • Highly organized self-starter with demonstrated project management skills who is able to work independently with creative freedom as well as within guidelines and who has the ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects from start to finish.

    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of faculty staff staff and alumni.

    • Knowledge of AP and Chicago editorial styles and ability to comply with the Universitys and colleges strategic themes brand and guidelines.

    SALARY & BENEFITS

    The salary range for this position including all possible grades is $51000.00 - $74000.00.
