Job Description

POSITION TITLE:Science Teacher 6-12REPORTS TO:Director of Special Education and/or Site AdministratorRESPONSIBILITIES: Work with special educators and other subject area teachers to provide science instruction to students using the Common Core and implement lessons emphasizing labs hands-on techniques and project-based individualized educational plans (IEPs/504s) to meet the students individual IEP and other meetings to present students current levels of performance and identify future needs if with educators and other staff to develop structures and procedures that will enable students with challenging behaviors to succeed in school and communityImplement modify and report on those procedures for identified studentsCollect data as needed to monitor efficacy of individual behavioral programsCommunicate expectations and outcomes to students staff and families on a regular basisWork directly with students at-risk to help them develop appropriate behaviors and conflict resolution skillsProvide support to staff and students in the event of a safety-related incident including when necessary the use of appropriate physical interventionSupport students in their efforts to complete classroom work and to achieve their annual and long-term academic goalsPerform duties as assigned by the Site Administrator or the Director of Special Education
