FLSA Status: ExemptSite/Location: Heritage High SchoolReports to: Band DirectorDate:06/27/2025POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Band Director supports the Band Director in planning organizing and implementing a comprehensive music education and performance program. This role includes assisting with rehearsals conducting ensembles teaching music fundamentals coordinating logistics for performances and competitions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Attend all rehearsals band camps and performances actively participating in assisting students in sectional and whole group rehearsals.
  • Organize and lead rehearsals and sectionals in marching band and the spring semester.
  • Show design collaboration with drill writers and unit staff.
  • Repair and maintain equipment.
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with the Athletic Director Band Director Percussion Caption Head Band staff Band members School Administration Booster Organization and Custodial Staff.
  • Recommend new equipment purchases within the budget allocations for Band Director approval.
  • Consultant to booster Director and parents in areas of percussion studies within the marching arts programs.
  • Recruit provide leadership and cooperate with the middle school band directors and programs.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Band Director that will provide for a successful program.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED; higher education degree preferred.
  • Experience in the marching arts to include DCI WGI and or high school and college marching arts is required.
  • Experience in current marching arts technology to include sound reinforcement systems MIDI sound design microphones and live audio engineering is required.
  • Experience in the various sub groups of the unit required.
  • Experience working with school-aged students required; preferably at high school level.

  • Brass and woodwind techniques

  • Composing and choreographing routines for the various percussion units
