Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery improvement research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.
Applications are open for a position as a fractional psychiatrist 16 hours per week within the Psychological Trauma Service (PTS) at Alfred Health. This is a fixed term position commencing in early August 2025 until July 2026.
The PTS is a new initiative within Alfred Mental and Addiction Health (AMAH). The service delivers treatment and support to individuals from the age of 26 years and their families carers and supporters who experience trauma related psychological distress or personality challenges. The service operates with an interdisciplinary model including the embedding of peer workers. The service offers specialist psychological treatments in addition to other interventions with the emphasis on flexible and holistic responses. The Consultant Psychiatrist will work in partnership with the psychologist clinical lead and will also supervise a 0.5 registrar. The Consultant Psychiatrist role includes delivery of primary and secondary consultation treatment and building capacity within AMAH in the context ofpersonality and trauma- related mental health presentationsand the delivery of trauma-informed care more broadly.
Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency aFellow of the relevant relevant knowledge and experience in Psychiatry is required as well as meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Psychiatry.
