Job Description

CLASS TITLE: Exceptional Childrens Teacher CLASS CODE: 2095

REPORTS TO: Principal/Designee EXEMPT STATUS: Exempt

BASIC FUNCTION:

Responsible for creating a positive engaging and inclusive learning environment where all students can succeed academically. This position requires the ability to implement effective instructional strategies assess student progress collaborate with colleagues and families and uphold school and district policies.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards to meet student needs
  • Create a structured and supportive classroom environment that fosters academic and personal growth
  • Use diverse teaching methods i.e. direct instruction group activities and technology
  • Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Create implement and review personalized learning plans for students with disabilities.
  • Work with general education teachers administrators and support staff to ensure inclusive education practices
  • Adhere to federal state and district laws and regulations regarding special education services
  • Responsible for preparing documenting scheduling and actively participating in all ARC meetings while ensuring clear and open communication with parents and guardians
  • Supervise students in all environments
  • Communicate effectively with students parents and staff to support students
  • Participate in professional development staff meetings and district-wide initiatives
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment
  • Demonstrate punctuality professionalism appropriate appearance and consistent reliable attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Requires speech vision and hearing capabilities
  • Work involves both indoor and occasional outdoor activity
  • Stand & move for extended periods; lift push pull carry etc. up to 25 lbs. repetitively; kneel crouch sit etc.
  • Use technology including computers interactive whiteboards audio-visual equipment etc.
  • Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics and follow all board and school policies

  • Kentucky Teacher Certification
