About The Department of Administrative Services:

The Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is the engine of state government providing innovative solutions and supporting the efficient operation of state agencies boards and commissions.

DAS program areas serve out Ohio government customers who in turn directly serve the interests of Ohioans. We help procure goods and services deliver information technology and mail recruit and train personnel promote equal access to the state workforce lease and manage office space process payroll print publications and perform a variety of other services.

DAS Office of Communications:

The DAS Office of Communications provides a wide array of internal and external communications services that support the agencys mission to provide quality service specialized support and innovative solutions for the effective operation of Ohio government.

What Youll Do:

Under the direction of the Communications Director performs various communications-related activities to support the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Office of Communications:

  • Support events activities & initiatives supported managed or initiated by the Office of Communications;
  • Assist with MyOhio enterprise website to include writing editing & posting new content & reviewing updating & moving existing content;
  • Assist with DAS intranet site performing writing editing moving & posting content;
  • Photograph and take video of people & events;
  • Gather information & write internal communications (e.g. news articles for agency newsletter content & messages for the enterprise & agency intranet & agency email messages);
  • Gather information & write news releases on an as-needed basis.
  • Gather information & write content for DAS social media sites
  • Conducts research for agency internal and external communications needs as assigned.

Performs other related duties as needed: works on special projects; provides assistance with administrative tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

Enrolled in a Post-Secondary Institution pursuing a degree or credential

Job Skills: Written Communication Oral Communication Creativity Attention To Detail

Knowledge of:

  • Agency & state government policies & procedures*
  • English composition & grammar
  • Journalism

Skill in:

  • Use of personal computer & associated hardware/software (e.g. MS Office Suite)*

Ability to:

  • Carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions
  • Deal with many variables & determine specific course of action;
  • Use proper research methods in gathering data;
  • Gather collate & classify information about data people or things;
  • Copy materials accurately & recognize grammatical & spelling errors.
