Duties: Provides technical and industry expertise in battery technology and testing primarily on automotive applications. Implements MATLAB and SIMULINK software packages. Maintains expertise in the current state of battery technology by following industry trends developments and regulations through reading technical journals and papers publishing research and articles in industry publications and presenting at industry conferences to support new sales. Works with universities to develop joint research papers on battery cell technology and appropriate test methods. Creates training material highlighting gaps in HORIBAs product portfolio by staying abreast of current technology trends and theories on battery cell and pack technologies testing modeling and battery management systems (BMS). Leads and adapts testing approaches and test profiles based on prior knowledge of lithium-ion battery cell aging modeling battery cell characteristics and interpreting customer requirements. Develops and implements automotive battery system tests and procedures including for lithium-ion batteries by applying the USABC Battery Test standards and preparing written technical solution proposals for customer requirements. Collaborates with company engineers and sales personnel to share expertise industry trends and up-to-date technical and company developments including product improvement projects. Demonstrates a technical understanding of battery testing and development to support customers needs within different functions including sales marketing engineering and proposal preparation.
Requirements: Bachelors degree in mechanical chemical electrical engineering or closely related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered. National travel required approximately 15% of the work time (monthly basis) to visit client sites and trade shows. International travel required approximately 7% of the work time (about 3-4 times per year) to support R&D collaborations.
