Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Vocational Services Supervisor is the designated representative of the Vocational Services Director in maintaining a high standard of quality services at the workshop on the Lecanto complex. He/she is responsible for ensuring all aspects of the programs meet ethical legal and professional standards and promote optimal client progress. He/she is responsible for directly supervising instructional personnel assigned to the vocational department on the Lecanto campus.

Serves as advisor to the Vocational Services Director on all matters related to the welfare of participants risk management staff development and quality assurance (programmatic and contractual).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervises Instructors and Instructor Assistants at the workshop in Lecanto (to include all workshop groups nursery Lecanto Key Store and Crystal River Key store). Evaluate and give feedback as needed to personnel.
  2. In conjunction with the Day Services Director assumes responsibility for the organization and arrangement of the Lecanto workshops to maximize supervision effective work flow and space utilization. Arranges and coordinates transportation of the completed and/or unfinished work materials. Assists in the billing process as needed.
  3. Monitor programming and training procedures for all workshop groups nursery and Crystal River Key store distribution. Assist in handling of behavioral issues as needed and consults with Day Services Director regarding behavioral (acquisition and reduction) issues.
  4. Supervises material handling to ensure optimum performance and report to Vocational Services Director any issues concerning contractual obligation. Assist with shipping and receiving of contract materials to include completing inventory and shipping manifests.
  5. Supervise quality control of completed product prior to shipping and monitor production of Lecanto campus. Report daily production to the Vocational Services Secretary.
  6. Represent the Adult Day Training Program at Support Plan meetings in Lecanto for all those in workshop nursery and Key Store and supervises staff in related IPPs. Participates in all CCARC meetings as needed.
  7. Complete or assist Vocational Services Director in completing time studies for nursery Crystal River and Lecanto distribution center as well as other jobs that are developed.
  8. Coordinates with the Vocational Services Director and Workshop Secretary specific details regarding subcontracted work. Procures and distributes supplies and equipment as needed.
  9. Supervises individual training provided by instructors through observations consultation and review of programs and implementation plan development. Consults with Day Services Director and Vocational Services Director provides in-service training and direction to instructional staff in the program through staff meetings and other in-service programs as required.
  10. In conjunction with the Day Services Director and Vocational Services Director provides in-service training and direction to instructional staff in the program through staff meetings and other in-service programs as required.
  11. Conducts monthly fire drills in Lecanto workshop and maintenance of related records.
  12. Ensures all participants in vocational training areas in Lecanto receive a meaningful day activity and goals are being met.
  13. Keep Day Services Director informed of staff and client issues regarding work habits personnel matters and matters related to service delivery.
  14. Assists in arranging appropriate personnel coverage in all areas of workshop. Coordinates activities with Day Services Director.
  15. Maintains Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on all products used in the Lecanto workshop. Ensure that vocational staff follow safety procedures.
  16. Oversee maintenance and custodial care of workshop buildings. Ensures that buildings are properly secured and fire/health codes are followed.
  17. In conjunction with Day Services Director and Vocational Services Director assures that all building/work areas used for service programs are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) particularly as it relates to a barrier free environment.
  18. Actively participates in other meetings as directed such as Safety Committee Crest meetings parent forums etc.
  19. Performs other essential duties as required or assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages subordinates supervisors (Instructor and Instructor Assistants) who supervise client employees in the vocational section of the Habilitative Department. Also supervises the Community Inclusion Specialist(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Associates degree vocational rehabilitation special education occupational therapy psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university preferred. Years of experience may be substituted for college education.

Three years experience in rehabilitation or in an educational or vocational setting for developmentally disabled persons is required. One-year experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.

Certification in Behavior Analysis is preferred. Must be able to become certified in First Aid/CPR and T.A.C. T. (Therapeutic Approaches in Crisis Training).

Valid Florida drivers license with a safe driver rating.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to deal courteously tactfully and efficiently with program participants staff members and the general public.

Emotional stability and maturity with a genuine interest in working with program participants.

Capable of working a flexible hour/day if needed.

Ability to become certified in Therapeutic Approaches in Crisis Training (TACT).

A thorough knowledge of behavior analysis and its practical application.

Willingness to comply with in-service training or other mandates.

Knowledge or experience in vocational work evaluation.

Knowledge of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Most possess good organizational and management skills.

Knowledge of APD AHCA and CARF regulations applicable to the developmentally disabled.

While performing the duties of this job the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions; is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
