We are searching for a talented candidate for Gastroenterology - Inpatient & Outpatient.

Hours:40 hours 8A 5P

Shift: Days weekend holiday rotation

Location: Fairhaven MA St. Lukes Hospital New Bedford MA

**Available to regular status employees who are scheduled to work a minimum of 24 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Physician-in-Chief for Medicine receiving oversight and supervision from a consulting Gastroenterologist perform diversified duties in being responsible for the care of patients with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract assigned under direction of individual attending Physicians under the rules and regulations of Massachusetts governing Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner practice.
  • Provide a variety of inpatient and outpatient care and services under the supervision of individually assigned Physician as part of daily activities.
  • Prepare patients for discharge and care for patients in the Outpatient Department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field is required. Graduate of an A.M.A.-approved Physician Assistant program is required.
  • Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Physician Assistant is required.
  • Nurse Practitioner: Masters of Science Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Nurse Practitioner is required.
  • Current Massachusetts R.N. registration is required.
  • Nurse Practitioner Certificate/Physician Assistant Certificate is required.
  • Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner: Qualified in all basic and advanced cardiac support standards as set by the American Heart Association is required.
  • Proven ability to care for critically ill adult patients with a broad range of medical problems is required.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate maturity self-confidence and the ability to follow complex patient management plans as directed by the attending surgeon is required.
  • Over three years up to and including five years experience as an Advanced Practice Practitioner is required.
