The Video Accessibility Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that UFITs streaming video content is accessible to a wide audience including individuals with disabilities. This position involves coordinating the captioning process providing guidance and training maintaining quality standards and offering technical support for the video management and streaming platforms. The Video Accessibility Specialist works to ensure compliance with accessibility standards and legal requirements.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

• Coordinate the captioning process for all streaming video content on UFITs platforms utilizing captioning and transcription software automated and AI captioning tools and collaborating with captioning vendors to ensure timely and accurate captioning services.
• Provide guidance and training to content creators and captioning staff on best practices for captioning. Maintain records and documentation related to captioning services and quality control procedures.
• Accurately transcribe spoken words from streaming video content into written text format. Review and edit captions for accuracy grammar and readability to maintain high-quality standards.
• Provide technical support for the video management and streaming platform users including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues providing training and support for content creators and ensuring the platform meets user needs.
• Regularly evaluate the performance of the captioning process and other accessibility initiatives. Stay up to date on accessibility standards set forth be the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
