Job Description

QUALIFICATION

  • EDUCATION: A two-year or higher degree is preferred.
  • LICENSURE: N/A
  • EXPERIENCE: Must have working knowledge of the following: Special Education procedures and policies computer operating systems including Windows Macintosh platforms including iPads Excel and Google Sheets

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Acts as administrator for the statewide special education data and documentation system applications.
  • Responsible for setting up users and permissions for access in the statewide special education data and documentation system.
  • Ensure all the statewide special education data and documentation system users have access via EdPortal. Provides on-site electronic and telephone-based troubleshooting for the statewide special education data and documentation system issues.
  • Maintains current knowledge and understanding of the statewide special education data and documentation system applications.
  • Develops and distributes rosters and other data reports as requested.
  • Facilitates Certified Weighted Enrollment count for districts every year. Weight IEPs.
  • Update/add state IDs
  • Manage and troubleshoot support tickets for the statewide special education data and documentation system.
  • Facilitates permissions and has a knowledge of scanning and accessing files into the Agencys central repository.
  • Works closely with AEA technical staff to ensure systems compatibility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties listed above the Special Education Data Coordinator II is responsible for the following:

  • Acts as the primary contact for the statewide special education data and documentation system.
  • Coordinate caseloads for Data Techs/Data Leads in the Agency.
  • Assures that Data Tech/Data Lead staff follows uniform procedures set forth by the Department of Education.
  • Provides training and support for AEA and LEA staff on the statewide special education data and documentation system.
  • Provides training and support to the Data Techs/Data Leads.
  • Organizes and facilitates meetings of the Data Tech/Data Lead staff.
  • Sends the Certified Weighted Enrollment IDEA 94-142 and Part C count to the state every year.
  • Works directly with the State of Iowa contact for the statewide special education data and documentation system and relays information as needed to end users including but not limited to LEA Staff LEA Tech Coordinators and AEA Special Education staff.
  • Acts as primary contact to the Department of Education for data corrections.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Leads professional development for at least one course internally externally or both
  • Understands other duties and responsibilities may be assigned according to current needs of the agency or districts served

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel between schools and sites served
  • Normal routine levels of activity related to bending carrying climbing hearing lifting reaching sitting standing vision and walking and may also involve above-average levels of activity at times that cant always be anticipated
