Reconditioning Manager
Summary: The Reconditioning Manager oversees the entire reconditioning process ensuring efficient operations and high-quality outcomes. This role combines management responsibilities with hands-on duties including vehicle inspections and lot management to maintain optimal workflow and vehicle presentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the reconditioning process utilizing the Rapid Recon Tool to meet HMC target guidelines
- Ensure that all vehicles are properly reconditioned to meet the expectations of all manufacturer Certified program guidelines
- Meet the reconditioning philosophical standards set out by the COO/President of HMC
- Manage the cycle time of a vehicle from acquisition/arrival to completion using all thedesignated steps in Rapid Recon
- Train detail staff on key practices including cleaning buffing undercoating light bodywork andPDR
- Conduct regular performance reviews with members of the recon and offer coaching to achieve mission objectives
- When required review requested work with technicians to determine the appropriate reconditioning methods
- Maintain exceptional communication between stores and departments to develop inter-department synergy
- Organize workflow and deliver vehicles in a timely manner
- Hold team accountable for high quality work and adherence to store policies
- Ensure that vehicles are accounted for on a regular basis by assisting with physical auditsmonthly
- Walk the pre-owned and new vehicle lots and review vehicle issues with Sales Managers or DUC
- When required review inventory vehicles with Director of Used Cars to determine theappropriate reconditioning measures based on the exit strategy pathway
- Adjust the reconditioning path to accelerate the completion when necessary
- Ensure accurate documentation on repair orders is completed and made available to the DUC and placed into vehicle jackets
- Maintain and update vehicle records as they process through the system including registrationfor Certification
- Determine and document warranty coverage
- Document and record all pertinent recall requirements
- Assist staff with production needs if necessary
- Attend management meetings when required
- Arrange and monitor sublet work holding vendors accountable
- Help manage photo and marketing process to meet HMC standards
Qualifications:
- Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; managerial experience preferred
- Ability to maintain high volume and high-quality results in a fast-paced environment
- Strong drive for continuous improvement
- Hands-on mentality someone who is not afraid to jump in at any stage of a process when needed
- Ability to develop teams to achieve results
- Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analysis and decision making ability
- Proficient computer skills
- Valid in-state drivers license

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- The role requires frequent walking standing and moving of vehicles.
- Exposure to shop elements such as noise dust fumes and odors.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in automotive repair or management is advantageous.
- At least two to four years of related experience in automotive reconditioning or management.
