Science Service Sustainability

Under general supervision theePermitting Coordinator will provide technical programmatic assistance and professional services for the Bureau of Environmental Health Services.

Job Duties:

  • Provide programmatic assistance by reviewing documentation submitted by the Responsible Party (RP) and/or facility submission process. Upload submitted documentation and/or required responses into ePermitting (eP) for each site permit or case. Update workflow within eP and assign follow-up tasks to the appropriate team leader. Review old hard-copy records that have been uploaded into eP and ensure those files have been uploaded to the correct site/file and location within eP.
  • Using a Notice of Violation (NOV) template send NOVs via email to the specified RP when the RP fails to follow the administrative processes mandated by programmatic regulations. Complete the enforcement referral form for each NOV and route the appropriate enforcement group. Monitors the subsequent submissions of forms and responses from various RPs. Updates ePermitting to reflect submission and updates corresponding workflow. Refers cases to Team Leaders for further enforcement action when needed.
  • Reviews complaints to determine appropriate program assignment and assigns complaint in ePermitting to staff member in appropriate program for investigation.
  • Research (RP) and/or property owner in order to locate contact information and send Open Burning template letter to RP. Mail completed Open Burning template letter and corresponding Open Burning brochure to the RP following the Open Burning Initiative. Research and perform field investigation for other non-industrial complaints.
  • Research and respond to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests. Triage and respond to Inquiries request; refer requests to appropriate program Team Leader if additional information is needed to fulfill the requests. Serves as back-up to our Lead Admin for procurement activities and vehicle coordination.
  • Perform other duties as required which includes attending periodic staff meetings and training.


Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A high school diploma and relevant program experience.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Additional Requirements:
  • Must have valid state drivers license and ability to operate state-owned vehicles.

  • Able to provide outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Work effectively in a team-oriented environment and encourage positive working relationships with coworkers industry and government officials.

  • Ability to successfully complete prescribed technical coursework and pass any test relevant to the position within the probationary period or trial period.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Data management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
