A DAY IN THE LIFE

Enthalpy Analytical is part of the larger organization Montrose Environmental Group is comprised of over 10 laboratories servicing air water and soil testing. Regulations drive the need for our services but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.

The LaboratoryDirector will have supervisory control of all operations and production aspects of the laboratory. The Laboratory Director is primarily responsible for the application and development of the labs resources to meet current and future client requirements.


The Lab Directoris responsible for the business unit management control of operating costs laboratory operations Information Technology and Financial performance of the lab.

Responsibilities

  • The Laboratory Directors responsibilities encompass the general business management of the laboratory and all its resources including equipment facilities and personnel
  • Ensure that the highest standards of quality and customer service are maintained. Collaborate with Quality Assurance staff on development and implementation of effective programs. Monitor proficiency testing program as required; oversee the validity of the analyses performed and data generated to ensure reliable data. Take corrective action promptly when results are unsatisfactory.
  • Provide insightful solutions to problems as they arise
  • Keep abreast of new technical developments. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase quality of services and operational efficiency.
  • Foster a unified culture and facilitate collaboration cooperation sharing of information and teamwork.
  • Manage staff in accordance with organizations policies and applicable regulations. Responsibilities include planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance and guiding professional development; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the labs operating budget. Establish standards for cost control and waste reduction. Monitor utilization patterns of services and advise on developing trends
  • Implementing corporate programs and directives for Operations Personnel Facilities IT and Financial management.

  • Frequent effective clear honest and open communication
  • Up to 10% Travel

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability .

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Chemistry Biology or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience required including 2 years of managing staff or equivalent combination of education training and experience
  • Must have familiarity for the assays performed within laboratory
  • Must understand the drivers that motivate customers to purchase assays from their lab
  • Experience in managing P&L for laboratory

Preferred Skills

  • Effectiveness -Positive outcomes and results of communication skills
  • Conflict resolution skills - Removes/breaks down organizational communication barriers
  • Assertion Skills - Problem diagnosis assess corrective action from their lab
