Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing full-cycle human resources support to dedicated client groups as well as the Human Resources Department as a whole. This individual must maintain a professional positive responsive and approachable demeanor while respecting confidentiality at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • In collaboration with the VP of HR implement policies and procedures for the effective human resources management of a dedicated client group ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations best practices and the Boys & Girls Clubs mission and values.
  • Develop and manage strong proactive working relationships with assigned client groups leadership serve as primary point of contact for supervisors with day-to-day HR issues and questions.
  • Provide guidance on performance management issues corrective actions and terminations.
  • Identify internal training opportunities coordinate with the HR Team to deliver.
  • Support all benefits programs including processing new enrollments employee communication and education around benefits COBRA and assisting with Open Enrollment.
  • Process HR-related payroll/HRIS changes internal adjustments transfers promotions etc.
  • Process manual checks term checks other off-cycle checks.
  • Complete DETR Unemployment responses and reporting.
  • Guide and track all annual employee evaluations.
  • Assist with processing FMLA leave Short- & Long-Term Disability Workers Comp claims.
  • Attend internal and external meetings as required present or conduct training as needed.
  • Produce reports for all internal and external HR audits production of government reports.
  • Work with VP of HR to assist with all internal and external HR projects activities and requests.
  • Attend Career Fairs and recruiting opportunities assist with all recruiting efforts as needed during peak hiring periods.
  • Keep a pulse on the latest HR trends and best practices make recommendations to leadership.

Qualifications

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Thoroughly trustworthy able to manage highly confidential information with absolute integrity.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills able to communicate effectively with a diverse population and represent BGCTM professionally to the community.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

CERTIFICATIONS/ASSOCIATIONS:

  • After hire will receive mandatory paid on-line and in-person training including Safety Skills CPR/First Aid Covid-19 Response etc.
  • After hire will be registered with Boys and Girls Clubs of America

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelors degree strongly preferred.
  • Professional Human Resources certification (SHRM-CP or PHR) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Occasionally requires travel to other Club locations career fairs and community partner locations.
  • Must be able to perform duties which require walking talking hearing standing sitting for long periods of time. May occasionally be required to bend kneel run and/or climb.
  • Must be able to use hands and arms to enter data into the computer use the telephone and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to lift move manipulate and or hold objects up to 45 pounds. Objects that exceed the 45-pound weight limit require additional assistance when moving lifting or manipulating.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.
