Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applicants for an Assistant Director of Admissions for the Visitor Center. Under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Admissions and the Senior Associate Director the Admissions Officer is responsible for the recruitment and admissions activities for the Corps of Cadets. In addition this role is responsible for the following:

  • Counsels and advises prospective students parents secondary school counselors faculty staff and other members of the college community regarding the institution admissions and matriculation policies and procedures and the college selection process.
  • Leads planning coordination and evaluation of the Admissions Visitors Center.
  • Manages daily operations scheduling of events and scheduling of all full-time and student staff assigned to work in the Visitors Center.
  • Coordinates long range planning of events and staffing with input from Associate Director of Recruiting.
  • Effectively navigates the academic calendar HS schedules and admissions busy seasons with deftness.
  • Oversees hiring and training of approximately 20 cadet ambassadors for both the academic year and summer sessions.
  • Re-visits and updates the information session and tour guide manual on an annual basis to account for programmatic and physical changes to campus.
  • Enhances recruitment of special student populations.
  • Develops and executes avenues to reach out and engage with prospective students from various recruiting pipelines interested in special programming at The Citadel to include (but not limited to) Palmetto Battery Rifle Band and other affinity or identity groups.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelors degree is required. A minimum of 1-3 years working in an admissions office or student visitors center is preferred. An understanding of the visit experience admissions and enrollment management principles or experience working with high school/college students is required. The ability to travel and willingness/ability to work flexible hours will be required for completion of duties.
