Job Description

Are you a Sessional Tutor looking to gain experience in different types of setting Or maybe you are a retired teacher or tutor looking to keep a hand in what you love most Or perhaps you are just looking for a fresh challenge.

Well look no further; PeoplePlus are looking for sessional tutors who truly wish to make a difference to their learners lives through raising self-esteem and giving people the confidence to believe they can do better to work within the education departments of her majestys prisons.

PeoplePlus is the largest independent provider of education in prisons we provide over two million hours of learning and vocational training each year. We are currently working with 9100 offenders in ten prisons delivering high quality courses that range from basic literacy to the arts.

PeoplePlus needs sessional tutors that can do more than just deliver a qualification but can engage and inspire students that have had little or no prior education. We need sessional tutors that believe people are capable of change and deserve a second chance in life.

As a sessional tutors within offender learning you can expect no two days to be the same and though at times challenge is incredibly rewarding As a sessional tutors you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to people live who may never had a genuine chance to learn and in turn help to break the cycle of reoffending by building confidence and self-worth.

Offender learning allows you to turn someones life around within a short period providing them with new found knowledge and skills that enables them to access careers and roles they would never have dreamt of before.

Offender learning not only improves the lives of Offenders but those of the general public of whom may suffer the outcomes of crime if these lives were not improved through meaningful employment.

The vast majority of Offenders that engage with Education do so on a voluntary basis and want the opportunity to improve their lives and do not attend simply due to new Education laws where Learners attend college because they have to until their 18.

To be considered for the role you will need a relevant teaching qualification (or the willingness to work towards one). Appointment is subject to a full enhanced DBS check and undertaking prison clearance.
