Description

This is a very fast paced job requiring the ability to multi-task with proficiency in a busy dynamic environment. Excellent customer service skills are required. A large amount of data entry is involved so data entry accuracy and efficiency are a must. This position also serves to support other departments as needed during times of high volume and short staffing including Adoptions Animal Care Foster Transfers Vet Services and Animal Control.


KEY OR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Support the mission and philosophy of the Kitsap Humane Society
  • Must advocate the humane treatment of animals and be able to transmit these values to others
  • Present a professional welcoming appearance and have the ability to deal cheerfully and tactfully with the public staff and volunteers with a consistent positive mental attitude
  • Update statuses signage and files for all animals in our care daily
  • Updating Lost Pet phone recording and posting found animals on KLP website daily
  • Prompt accurate and courteous replies to all customer emails and phone inquiries
  • Entering animal medical information and vaccine history
  • Processing all transactions including adoptions redemptions inventory sales low cost spay/neuter vaccines and licensing
  • Arranging and logging adoption counsels paging the correct staff for the council
  • Maintain accurate receipt integrity
  • Responsible for balancing the till and generating deposits daily
  • Happily greet customers and answer all inquiries patiently and courteously
  • Ordering and sales of Inventory Items
  • Accuracy of all data entry and proper allocation use for receipts
  • Knowledge of in care animals and ability to communicate that knowledge in a positive manner
  • Filing
  • Receptionist duties as required
  • Ability to multi-task with accuracy
  • Comply with established policies and procedures
  • Adherence to the KHS workplace agreement
  • Perform job duties in compliance with departmental safety and personnel policies
  • Provide backup adoption counseling support for adoption events peak adoption times and barn cat adoptions as needed
  • Provide backup animal kennel cleaning support as needed (occasional)
  • Provide backup data entry support records keeping support and receptionist support for Foster Transfers Vet Services and Animal Control as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Weekend work required

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

  • Previous customer service experience
  • Strong data entry skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Meticulous attention to accurate record keeping filing and reporting
  • Skilled in cashier duties; i.e. Cash handling accurate customer transactions balancing till and reconciling receipts.
  • Hard working efficient and proactive with extremely strong time-management skills
  • Able to remain composed and communicate respectfully and effectively with people of all backgrounds and personalities even during difficult and emotional customer interactions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A team player with the ability to work collaboratively and productively with volunteers peers and other KHS staff
  • Display professionalism positivity friendliness tact and sound judgment in interactions with staff volunteers and the public
  • Be open to constructive criticism and coaching
  • Able to work well under pressure handle multiple tasks at one time and to work well both as a team and in a self-directed environment
  • Comfort handling animals of all sizes breeds and temperaments and the ability to work in areas where animal dander/hair is present
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs and to be physically able to bend stoop kneel squat twist reach and climb steps
  • Available on weekends

Background check required

Hours of Operation:

  • Seven days a week excluding major holidays
  • Shifts will vary dependent on staffing clinics and special events
Salary Description
$18.28/hour
