DescriptionThe Diagnostic Specialist-MSSM is a professional individual who supports quality patient care performs routine examinations assists physicians and registered nurses with daily clinical activity and performs standard diagnostic procedures.
Responsibilities- Plans and manages patient care according to each patients needs.
- Interviews patients and records their medical history and physical condition.
- Obtains patient vital signs including pulse blood pressure temperature and respiration.
- Provides routine care for patients.
- Reviews medical charts.
- Accompanies patients to their rooms.
- Assists physicians and registered nurses.
- Communicates with patients and their families.
- Performs standard diagnostic procedures including EKG phlebotomy venipuncture spirometry etc.
- Prepares specimens for lab courier.
- Administers medications.
- Provides wound care.
- Prepares and administers injections
- Verifies that patient charts are updated promptly and accurately
- bserves and records patients conditions and reactions to medications and treatment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Completion of a New York State-approved training program in licensed practical nursing.
- BLS certification
- 1-2 years recent nursing experience
- Active New York State LPN licensure.
