Primary Purpose
The University of the Pacific is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Assistant Cross Country / Assistant Track & Field Coach to support the mens and womens distance programs. This position will assist in all aspects of the cross country season and support distance event development during the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons. The successful candidate will play a key role in recruiting training and mentoring student-athletes while contributing to the overall growth of the program.
Essential Functions
Assist with daily operations training sessions and competitive planning for cross country and distance track events. Contribute to the development and implementation of seasonal training plans that promote athlete growth wellness and peak performance. Lead recruiting efforts for cross country and distance track events identifying prospective student-athletes and managing outreach evaluation and communication. Support academic progress of student-athletes by collaborating with academic advisors and promoting a culture of academic excellence. Assist with team travel meet entries equipment logistics and other administrative tasks. Ensure compliance with NCAA conference and institutional rules and regulations. Foster a positive inclusive and competitive team environment aligned with the values of the program and university. Engage in fundraising and alumni outreach efforts as needed. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree 3 years of collegiate coaching experience in cross country and/or distance track events.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree Proven success in recruiting and developing student-athletes at the NCAA level. Familiarity with NCAA compliance and recruiting systems. Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills. Willingness to work evenings weekends and travel as needed. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice equity and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
