General ResponsibilitiesReporting directly to the Assistant Director for Special Education the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher will work in the Early Care and Education Behavioral Health Center and provide services to special education students with a range of mild to severe disabilities ages 3-5 years. The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher leads the individual education team (IEP) to develop data driven student learning and behavioral goals. The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher is responsible for co-developing curriculum and program strategies alongside a general education ECEAP Lead Teacher consistent with the students learning levels and to continually assess student progress towards IEP goals.
Assignment/Location:This position will be 8 hours per day 185 days per year and serve the Early Care and Education Behavioral Health Center a new program in Vancouver WA that is being created to serve children ages 3-5 with intensive social emotional mental and behavioral supports and services.
Salary:The full salary range for this position is $62669.86 - $105242.66. Salary placement is based on education and certificated experience.
Essential Functions/Other FunctionsEssential Functions:- Identify teaching strategies to implement IEP goals for special education students. Monitor and adjust teaching strategies to meet students needs.
- Co-develop and manage learning experiences for preschool classroom activities (e.g. small group direct instruction inclusion independent practice one-on-one) alongside a general education ECEAP lead teacher.
- Conduct student assessments to determine program eligibility and services.
- Supervise the collection of performance data on student IEP objectives and document progress on IEP online.
- Co-develop lesson plans.
- Develop and complete IEP plans.
- Organize schedule and facilitate IEP meetings with parents general education staff and specialist.
- Communicate with parents and students regarding transition goals.
- Develop and adapt curriculum from general education curriculum. Coordinate with general education teacher to monitor student grades and progress.
- Train staff to support student learning.
- Consult and collaborate with professionals and parents regarding needs of special students to assure appropriate learning experiences.
- Inform principal/staff on progress of students.
- Maintain a safe environment conductive to learning. Implement preschool classroom management programs for students. Monitor and adjust individual behavior management plans for individual students needs.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & SkillsMinimum Qualifications:- Hold or be eligible to hold a valid Washington teaching certificate with an early childhood special education endorsement (preferred) or P-12
- Special Education endorsement.
- Experience writing individualized curriculum.
- Experience developing executing and adjusting behavior management program supports.
Preferred Qualifications:- National Board Teacher Certification.
- Experience in the administration and provisions of early childhood special education services.
- Teaching experience.
- Experience training staff.
- Experience serving young children with internalizing and/or externalizing behaviors.
- Three years of experience working with children in a preschool or transition to kindergarten setting.
Working Conditions/Employment RequirementsWorking Conditions:- Classroom setting.

Employment Requirements:- Successful completion of a portable background check and clearance through the WA State Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF).
