Job Description

Job Description: Italian Spanish and Exploratory

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate individual to join Stoneham Central Middle School as a World Language Teacher with a focus in Italian and Spanish. As a member of our World Language department you will be the primary instructor for Italian (grades 7 and 8). You will also teach 7th grade Spanish and a World Language Exploratory course that provides a survey of Spanish French and Italian to our 6th grade students. You will play a crucial role in fostering students language proficiency cultural understanding and love for world language learning.

Responsibilities:(These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar related or a logical assignment to the position.)

  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans instructional materials and assessments to meet the diverse needs of students learning Italian and Spanish.
  • Teach Italian and Spanish language skills including speaking listening reading and writing using a UDL approach that utilizes various techniques and strategies.
  • Provide engaging and interactive classroom instruction to facilitate language acquisition and develop students cultural awareness.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes active student participation student-centered learning and collaboration.
  • Proficiency in using technology and educational tools to support language instruction.

  • Assess students progress regularly through assignments tests projects and oral evaluations and provide timely feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  • Identify individual student needs and adapt instructional strategies accordingly to support their language development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on the latest language teaching methodologies and resources.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and other school-related events as required.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom climate that promotes respect understanding and appreciation for cultural diversity.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree in Italian Spanish Education or a related field.

  2. Licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Education in Italian AND Spanish (we may be able to get a waiver or emergency license for Spanish)

  3. Fluency in Italian and Spanish (including native or near-native proficiency)
