Course Description:

We are seeking a part-time professor to teach SED1514: Introduction to Sustainability for students in the Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Design program at the Faculty of Engineering School of Engineering Design and Teaching Innovation University of Ottawa. This course delivered in French introduces students to the fundamental concepts and tools that engineering science business and the humanities contribute to sustainability. Through hands-on
challenges students will develop multidisciplinary awareness and collaboration skills essential for addressing contemporary social and environmental issues.
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver engaging lectures and practical activities on sustainability concepts from engineering science business and the humanities
Guide students through multidisciplinary hands-on challenges that foster collaboration and real-world problem-solving
Introduce and contextualize key sustainability frameworks and tools relevant to modern technology and society
Facilitate discussions on the social and environmental dimensions of sustainability issues
Assess student performance through assignments group projects and reflective exercises
Provide constructive feedback to support student learning and multidisciplinary skill development
Hold office hours to assist students outside of class time

Requirements:


Masters degree or higher in Environmental Science Sustainability or a related field
Fluency in French (written and spoken)
Proven teaching experience at the post-secondary level
Strong understanding of sustainability concepts multidisciplinary collaboration and experiential learning approaches
Ability to engage students from diverse academic backgrounds in collaborative hands-on activities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with multidisciplinary or experiential education in sustainability
Familiarity with sustainability frameworks (e.g. United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals)
Industry or research experience related to sustainability social innovation or
environmental impact
Please note that this position requires teaching in French.
