The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for identifying cultivating soliciting and stewarding major donors and prospects with a capacity of $5000 or more in support of the Colleges strategic priorities. The Major Gifts Officer will play a critical role in building long-term philanthropic relationships that drive transformational support for scholarships academic programs campus improvements and other institutional initiatives.
The qualified candidate will manage a portfolio of approximately 125150 major gift prospects and current donors with capacity to make leadership-level gifts. Develop and implement customized cultivation and solicitation strategies for each prospect. Collaborate with the Vice President for Advancement and Advancement colleagues to support annual giving planned giving and campaign initiatives. Achieve annual fundraising goals as determined in collaboration with Advancement leadership.
The qualified candidate must exhibit excellent interpersonal relationship building writing and communication skills; proven ability to support alumni or volunteers with a strong focus on customer service and satisfaction; ability to participate and lead in a team environment; strong project-management and problem-solving skills. Must be a self-starter detail-oriented and deadline driven; able to adapt and manage multiple and changing priorities. Ability to maintain confidentiality a must.
Bachelors degree required; advanced degree or CFRE certification a plus. Minimum of 35 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising preferably in higher education or nonprofit settings. Demonstrated success in securing five- and six-figure gifts. Some travel nights and weekends required. Valid drivers license and successful drivers license background check required.
