Role Overview

Sancta Maria is seeking a passionate and experienced IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) Coordinator to lead the continued development and delivery of the PYP across the primary school. This is both a leadership and mentoring role and may include some classroom teaching depending on the candidates background and school needs.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative forward-thinking educator with a strong understanding of the IB philosophy and inquiry-based learning capable of leading curriculum implementation and supporting teacher development within a diverse international team.

Key Responsibilities

As PYP Coordinator:

• Provide strategic leadership for the PYP across all grade levels

• Ensure effective implementation of the IB PYP in accordance with IB standards and practices

• Facilitate collaborative planning among teachers and promote best practices in inquiry-based learning

• Guide curriculum review and alignment processes including development of scope and sequences

• Oversee the PYP action plan and support preparations for evaluation visits

• Lead regular professional development and IB workshops for teaching staff

• Liaise with the IB and act as the point of contact for all PYP-related communication

• Support teachers in designing transdisciplinary units assessments and student exhibitions

• Foster a school-wide culture of reflection growth and continuous improvement

Candidate Profile

• Bachelors degree in Education or a related field (Masters preferred)

• Teaching qualification (e.g. . PGCE state certification)

• Minimum 3 years experience in an IB PYP school (coordination experience preferred)

• IB PYP training and familiarity with IB documentation planning and evaluation

• Strong interpersonal leadership and organisational skills

• Excellent communication in English (written and spoken)

• Commitment to inclusive student-centred learning and inquiry-based teaching

• Passion for collaborative leadership and whole-child development
