Position: Caseworker
Department: Family Services
Availability of Position: Immediately
Schedule: 8:30AM to 4:00PM
Reporting Relationship: Family Services Coordinator; Corps Officer
Salary/Grade: $19-$22; 75NE

Responsibilities
Position Overview:
To meet emergency assistance needs of clients including Christmas Assistance. To provide direct assistance and make referrals for clients when necessary. To provide case management with the goal of moving clients out of crisis-living patterns into being more self-sufficient.
Description of Position:
- Interview clients assessing their situations capabilities and problems to determine what services are required to meet their needs.
- Maintain case history and prepare reports as needed.
- Refer clients to community resources (when client does not qualify for direct services or needs additional services) for services such as job placement debt counseling legal aid housing medical treatment and provide concrete information such as where to go and how to apply.
- Develop and review service plans in consultation with clients and perform follow-ups assessing the quantity and quality of services provided.
- Assist with food pantry as needed.
- Assist with Christmas assistance program. and specific seasonal assistance programs as assigned.
- Work with Family Services Coordinator to provide volunteer training to Family Services volunteers.
- Keep monthly records on clients data specifically to produce statistics for The Salvation Army and outcomes-based statistics.
- Assist Family Services Coordinator with day-to-day functions of the Family Services department.
- Attend trainings /seminars/meetings as recommended by Family Services Coordinator.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in social work BSW is preferred.
- 3 years experience in social work field.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Bilingual ability (English and Spanish) preferred.
- Valid Drivers License
- Knowledge of cultural flexibility competence in working with multi-cultural participants and experience working with inner-city populations.
- Detail oriented flexible and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks prior to employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check along with renewals every five years.
