Design & Shop Drawing Engineer
Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Aluminum Design & Shop Drawing Engineer to develop accurate design and fabrication/shop drawings for architectural aluminum systems such as curtain walls windows doors cladding and related assemblies. The ideal candidate will work closely with the project engineering and production teams to ensure compliance with design intent standards and site requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed shop drawings fabrication drawings and cutting lists for aluminum systems based on architectural and structural plans.
- Develop system design proposals (including faade details thermal breaks drainage and fixing systems).
- Ensure compliance with project specifications tolerances and industry standards.
- Coordinate with project engineers site teams and fabrication departments to align drawings with real-world conditions.
- Conduct site surveys and incorporate site measurements into final drawings.
- Review and incorporate client/consultant feedback and ensure drawing revisions are updated.
- Maintain organized documentation and version control of all drawings.
- Support in preparing as-built drawings and installation details when required.
- Ensure all drawings are CAD-compliant using AutoCAD or other industry-relevant software (e.g. Revit SolidWorks or specialized aluminum detailing tools).
Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Architecture or related technical field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in aluminum design and shop drawing within the faade or architectural metals industry.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and optionally Revit SolidWorks or Rhino.
- Strong knowledge of aluminum systems (e.g. curtain walls windows doors composite panels).
- Understanding of building codes structural behavior and thermal requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
