Cornwall Councils Children and Family Services are committed to ensuring every child and young person receives the support they need to thrive. The Statutory SEND Service plays a vital role in delivering high-quality person-centred support for children and young people with EHC plans.
The Role:
Working within the Inclusion and SEND team the post holder is responsible for providing an accurate and robust response to local authority appeals to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDT). This will involve evidence gathering the drafting of responses and responding to judicial orders. The post holder must work collaboratively and cooperatively across the Together for Families directorate especially with the Statutory SEN Team and Cornwall Council legal team.
The post holder is also responsible for providing information requested by the Local Government Ombudsman (LGSCO) and for the implementation of any recommendations. A close working relationship with the LGSCO Link officer the Resolution Officer (Education) and the central feedback team will be essential.
Working in collaboration with the central feedback team and with support from their line manager the role holder will prepare reports for presentation by their line manager to Cornwall Councillors through the Standards Committee.
This is a public/customer-facing role where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
This position will be subject to a standard criminal record disclosure check.
