Job Description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Monmouthshire to assist with the appointment of a Ground Maintenance Operative on a 2-months contract likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 12.21- 15.48 per hour
Summary:
Monmouthshire County Council is seeking a proactive and dependable Ground Maintenance Operative to deliver high-quality outdoor maintenance services as part of the Building Services & Maintenance team. The role involves working on public open spaces verges schools cemeteries and contracted sites to maintain a safe clean and sustainable environment. Operatives may also assist with cleansing tasks and occasional waste collection during emergencies or when required.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out grass cutting using handheld and ride-on equipment across various sites including open spaces and schools.
- Maintain horticultural areas including shrub beds and bedding plants.
- Perform litter picking and emptying of litter bins in parks verges and other public areas.
- Undertake landscaping duties including arboriculture and the maintenance of sports facilities.
- Operate machinery and equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and health and safety guidelines.
Experience:
- Experience using grounds maintenance machinery (e.g. ride-on mowers hedge trimmers).
- Arboriculture or landscaping experience.
- Previous experience in a grounds maintenance or similar outdoor role.
Essentials:
- A clean valid UK driving licence.
- HGV licence.
- Strong understanding of Health and Safety protocols.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to undertake training relevant to the role.
- Basic knowledge of sports turf and line marking.
- Welsh language skills.
