The Program Support Supervisor role at Berryville is an essential part of our multidisciplinary approach. We are looking for individuals who understand that trauma is real and changes the way kids think. We want someone who has learned how to weather storms with low drama a mix of excellent intuition calm focus and above all compassion. Others will look to you when things are getting too complex for typical response. The therapists doctors nurses teachers etc. will look to you for your seasoned and common-sense perspective on the challenges facing the children we serve. you will write shift notes but you will be able to do it in a state of the art electronic health record. Yes you will deal with challenging behavior but you will do it using Ukeru a national best-practice that provides you with a trauma informed foundation that helps you diffuse the drama before it gets out of hand. Yes you will have to be keeping kids engaged you will do it on a campus with greenhouses playgrounds basketball courts tennis courts music rooms and activity rooms. And youll do all of this with the guidance of people who have been doing it for a long time. They know stuff that you will find invaluable.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

To manage direct support professional (DSP) employees to enable them to provide well-rounded quality services to individuals utilizing evidence-based best practices. Ensure that DSP employees provide for the health safety welfare and progress of individuals. Guide DSP employees in using effective interactions designed to improve well-being promote progress toward goals increase independence and improve overall quality of life. Observe document and provide meaningful feedback to DSP employees to maintain or improve performance to achieve desired results established by the multi-disciplinary and management teams. Collaborate with other managers to provide the necessary development of DSP employees and to support the goals of the program and organization.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Employee Management

  1. Establishes and maintains positive employee relations
  2. Interviews and collaborates with the Human Resources Manager to hire new employees
  3. Provides and ensures initial employee training
  4. Monitors employee performance and utilizes recognition and feedback models to improve / maintain performance
  5. Corrects employee performance problems that do not improve through feedback and coaching
  6. Provides and ensures on-going employee training and development
  7. Conducts employee performance reviews
  8. Provides for employee safety through risk management
  9. Managing employee transfers and resignations

Managing Client/Customer Focus

  1. Monitors that clients receive medication and medical treatment as prescribed
  2. Manages the safety and rights of clients
  3. Monitors that clients health and hygiene needs are met
  4. Manages the residence / school site and company vehicle use
  5. Facilitates program planning
  6. Ensures employees understand their responsibilities to implement clients individual plans
  7. Monitors employees implementation of individual plans
  8. Manages employees support to substitute staff
  9. Sets expectations and monitors how employees facilitate client participation in the community
  10. Manages on-call / on-duty responsibilities

Leadership and Organizational Commitment

  1. Demonstrates knowledge of Grafton (mission vision structure)
  2. Supports the organizations Continuous Quality Improvement approach
  3. Demonstrates core values through personal behavior
  4. Communicates effectively by selecting appropriate communication modalities
  5. Promotes teamwork
  6. Manages and implements change
  7. Performs other duties as assigned

Financial Management

  1. Demonstrates knowledge of overall program budget
  2. Utilizes approved procedures for purchases and cash requests
  3. Assists the Operating Team in containing costs

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

A Bachelors degree in social work or psychology and two years of professional experience working with children one year of which must have been in a residential facility for children; OR a high school diploma or G.E.D. and a minimum of five years professional experience working with children with at least two years in a residential facility for children. Prior supervisory or demonstrated leadership experience preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires a valid drivers license.
