Duties and Responsibilities

  • *Responsible for processing general admissions applications understands admissions policies and interprets the UH residency status for tuition purposes rules and regulations.
  • *Assists assigned campus staff with the certification and monitoring of foreign students and veterans in compliance with federal immigration and VA regulations.
  • *Responsible for providing outreach services to applicants who have not completed their application process or accepted applicants who have not registered for classes to increase conversion rates annually.
  • *Input and maintain application information into the UH Student Information System.
  • *Assists assigned campus staff with processing onboarding documents i.e. collection of health clearance documents.
  • *Intake student documents and process for admissions and transfer credit evaluation enrollment verification changes to student records and provide services related to student administrative transactions to maintain the accuracy of student records.
  • *Support the admissions of campus special programs.
  • *Implement approaches/workflow for the digital management of the admissions intake process.
  • *Provide assistance and information to students/customers regarding admissions registration transfer credit evaluation and special program policies and procedures in the day to day front office operations.
  • *Assist in reviewing disseminating and answering inquiries. Must be able to properly respond or direct inquiries appropriately and in a timely manner and successfully assist/resolve customer issues.
  • *Assist in the hiring training and supervision of student help necessary to perform the tasks associated with this program area.
  • *Assist in data collection requirements based on operational reporting and export needs.
  • Recommend constructive ideas to increase the efficiency effectiveness and productivity within a specialty area.
  • Create a positive experience and added value for students/customers and provide high quality customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Professional Work Experience:

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in education social science business administration public administration human services or related field and one year of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for providing educational services counseling or other assistance to students as it relates to registration activities including experience with minority or disadvantaged groups; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Functional knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of recruitment registration and admission of students especially disadvantaged international and veterans as applied to higher education or postsecondary educational institutions.
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of principles theories federal and state laws rules regulations and systems associated with recruitment registration and admission of students in a postsecondary educational institution setting.
  • Functional knowledge of higher education or postsecondary educational institution programs and organizations their purposes and functions.
  • Thorough understanding of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students and prospective students including individuals from disadvantaged minority or international groups.
  • Working knowledge of database management and familiarity of student information systems.
  • Ability to work outside of normal work hours including evenings and weekends during peak registration periods or when necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize problems identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of recruitment registration and admission of students in a postsecondary educational institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation write reports and procedures and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer apply word processing and spreadsheet software.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Coursework in guidance counseling student personnel or related social science.
