Description

This position performs basic electrical and instrumentation routine job duties with general instruction and more complicated tasks with some additional guidance or support. Duties are performed in accordance with applicable codes and safety regulations. Basic electrical and/or instrumentation skill set is required with one to five years of experience and formal training.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance repair inspection testing and installation of instruments control systems electrical equipment process analyzers and other related equipment
  • Safely work on and around low (480V class) electrical equipment and components including wiring motors panels junction boxes transformers switches breakers starters and drives
  • Diagnose problems and determine needed repairs or modifications; install conduit and pull wires for motors control panels and lighting fixtures
  • Interpret diagrams and schematics; perform work according to drawings; create redline drawings of electrical and instrumentation installations
  • Make estimates of materials man-hours and equipment required for jobs assigned to aid in planning and scheduling
  • Maintain accurate accounts of time labor materials and equipment for work performed; complete daily logs; prepare oral and written status reports as necessary
  • Determine precautions and follow safe and effective work procedures; check job sites for potential hazards
  • Understand and perform instrument calibrations and calibration checks on flow temperature pressure and level instruments
  • Interpret drawings specifications and other resource documents
  • Basic familiarization with networks and process control system architecture function troubleshooting and repair
  • Loss Control responsibilities include: conducting inspections and audits related to the Loss Control program as assigned participating in Hazard Reviews as needed recommending safety improvements completion of safety action items as assigned completing required regulatory training and compliance with all applicable regulations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in process equipment
  • One to five years of experience in basic electrical and instrumentation

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Basic electrical and/or instrumentation skill set
  • Able to successfully execute basic electrical and instrumentation routine job duties with general instruction and more complicated tasks with some additional guidance or support
  • Knowledge of process and craft related mathematics
  • Knowledge of instrumentation installation best practices

Physical Requirements and Environment:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Maintenance: Requires exposure to the manufacturing areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields hard hat steel-toed shoes and mandatory hearing protection.
