What you will do for Harris County Precinct 4

Harris County Precinct 4 is seeking a dedicated and hands-on Project Specialist to join our Operations Special Projects team. This role plays a key part in ensuring the safety functionality and visual appeal of Precinct 4 facilities.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors tackling a wide range of tasks throughout the dayfrom physical maintenance to project support activities. This is a dynamic active role that requires flexibility initiative and a strong work ethic.

The Project Specialist must be able to follow supervisor instructions adhere to park rules and regulations and demonstrate professionalism and courtesy in all interactions with the public. Interpreting and communicating approved policies accurately and respectfully is essential.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate a variety of small-engine machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Operateor be willing to learn to operatelarge equipment such as tractors and backhoes.
  • Perform grounds maintenance tasks including mowing trimming weeding cutting and edging around walkways flowerbeds and other landscaped areas.
  • Prune or remove shrubs and trees including clearing deadfall.
  • Maintain cleanliness of grounds by collecting litter leaves and pine needles.
  • Clean and sanitize public restrooms and empty trash receptacles.
  • Use blowers and pressure-washing equipment to remove dirt and debris from trails sidewalks and structures.
  • Assist with landscaping tasks such as planting grass flowers shrubs and trees; weeding flowerbeds; and installing or maintaining irrigation systems.
  • Load and unload equipment and transport it to various job sites as needed.
  • Perform basic repairs on fences gates bleachers walls and walkways.
  • Paint interior and exterior surfaces of buildings pavilions offices and parking lots.
  • Assist skilled trades staff with construction and maintenance projects including welding concrete and asphalt work roofing cabinetry HVAC installation plumbing and more.
  • Support daily maintenance operations alongside field crews and volunteer labor teams following priorities set by the Operations Division.
  • Set up and break down event equipment including tents tables chairs and other items.
  • Operate and troubleshoot audio and visual equipment.
  • Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends based on scheduled events.
  • Be available to work before during or after emergencies or disasters as required by the department.
