Monroe Catholic Schools is seeking a full-time first-grade teacher for the 2025-26 school year. Monroe Catholic Elementary School is a preschool through 8th-grade regional school located in Monroe MI serving over 400 students. We seek dynamic and energetic candidates passionately committed to Catholic education. Candidates must be proactive communicators comfortable with differentiating instruction and create a nurturing classroom environment.
Professional Responsibilities Include:
Embodies and promotes the mission and vision of Monroe Catholic Elementary School.
Teaches all subjects utilizing the AOD curriculum state benchmarks and Core Knowledge curriculum
Engages students in learning through best practice strategies
Assesses students academic and social growth
Maintains a safe clean and comfortable classroom environment
Participates in professional learning teams through memberships in school committees and grade-level discussions
Uses a variety of student assessment tools to gauge student understanding
Consistently creates a high level of active student engagement and student-led learning
Plans for small reading and math groups/centers
Applies differentiated instruction and assessment that improves achievement for all learners in a learner-centered and collaborative environment
Uses technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process including iPads Chromebooks smart boards and online instructional platforms
Establishes a consistent disciplinary approach that promotes self-direction and confidence; sets high standards for student behavior and manages inappropriate behavior effectively.
Communicates regularly with families and implements clear communication systems
Cooperates with school administration; works effectively with all staff members to promote positive relationships with students and parents
Completes additional administrative operational and professional responsibilities and duties as needed
Qualifications:
All teachers in the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit shall be certified and /or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan. Applicants should possess:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
Strong example of Catholic Christian faith
Catechist certification (or willingness to attain certification)
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students parents and staff
Strong communication technology and organizational skills
Competency in student management and supervision
Must take the Protecting Gods Children class
Strong classroom management skills
Ability to both short-term and long-term plan
Experience in using assessments and analyzing data to drive curriculum
