Days/Evenings (United States of America)The primary responsibility of this position is to provide care and educational services to children under the supervision and guidance of the lead teacher (Teacher I).
Essential Job Functions
- Prepares and implements educational activities under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
- Supervises play activities meals and rest time of the children. Maintains open communication with parents.
- Prepares supplies and materials for classroom activities.
- Performs functions to safeguard the childrens wellness and safety. Reports accidents and accurately records an incident report. Obtains certifications as indicated in the Code of Virginia for child care providers.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the child served. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the childrens status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each childs requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the departmental policies and procedures.
Employment Qualifications
- Knowledge generally acquired through school experiences.
- Knowledge generally acquired through the Teen Volunteer Program with Bon Secours Family Centers.
- Incumbent must successfully meet the requirements indicated in the Code of Virginia and obtain and successfully complete background checks as required by the Code of Virginia.
