Summary

This position is responsible for managing ROOMMATE the Tang Student Art Loan Program which provides an opportunity for Skidmore students to borrow artwork from the Tang Museum Collection to hang in their living space. The ROOMMATE Coordinator will direct the installation of an annual exhibition of the artworks organize and oversee the distribution of the loans provide updated information for the database for tracking location and condition of the artworks on loan create publicity and programming around ROOMMATE manage the receipt and documentation of returned loans and all other matters relating to the Art Loan Program.

When not working on ROOMMATE which will have concentrated periods of intensity this position will assist the Assistant Director for Engagement by working on various events and public programs. In addition this position will be responsible for staffing the Museum on select Thursday evenings (4 - 9 pm) and Sundays (11:30 am 5 pm).

This position is a 20 hours a week (includes one evening and one weekend day) 12-month position renewable annually.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field including but not limited to studio art art history museum studies.
  • Minimum of 1 year of museum experience
  • Past experience working with students
  • Ability to work both independently and also cooperatively with others in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong verbal and editing skills detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to speak in front of groups and work with students faculty museum colleagues and community members
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to museum work
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule work well under tight deadlines and interact effectively with diverse constituencies
  • This position requires some lifting and moving of artworks up to 35 lbs.

Pay range: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
