RISE Academy is an alternative high school within Lawrence Public Schools. RISE is a trauma-informed school grounded in restorative justice that values relationships and mutual respect with the belief that all students want to be successful in school. RISE students learn in a competency-based structure in an academic and social-emotional program that works to prepare students for an ever-changing world after high school. RISE Academy incorporates competency-based education the project-based learning restorative justice trauma informed practices and the belief that all students want to be : Develop and deliver a comprehensive medical science curriculum aligned with state and district foundational topics such as human anatomy physiology medical ethics health careers infection control and CPR/basic first career and technical education practices to expose students to a variety of health-related lab activities demonstrations simulations and project-based guest speakers field trips or internships related to the healthcare industry when a safe and well-organized classroom and laboratory student performance regularly and provide meaningful instruction to meet the diverse needs of accurate records of student grades attendance and with colleagues and administrators to support student in school events parent-teacher conferences and professional development.
