Job Description

The Sr. Electrical Engineer will collaborate cross-functionally to drive robust product development and continuous improvement including hands-on support for field issue resolution product testing and coordination with our India Global Capability Center of Excellence on large-scale design initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design develop and maintain embedded hardware and firmware for control and monitoring systems.
  • Develop and integrate control software using high-level programming languages (e.g. C C Visual Basic Automation Studio).
  • Lead documentation system testing integration and debugging efforts for control solutions.
  • Conduct detailed diagnostic and engineering analysis at both hardware and software levels for deployed systems.
  • Travel to customer sites to investigate diagnose and resolve product issues in the field.
  • Translate Voice of Customer (VoC) and commercial specifications into actionable hardware and software design requirements.
  • Support product development activities aligned with the Xylem XPD product development process.
  • Interface with customers installers consultants and distributors to troubleshoot and resolve field issues including installation and post-deployment failures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
  • Experience working with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) up to 600 horsepower.
  • Familiarity with global design collaboration and scalable product development processes.

Technical Expertise

Proficiency in:

  • Industrial communication protocols: Modbus BACnet DeviceNet TCP/IP Zigbee etc.
  • PLC system design and programming
  • Embedded systems architecture especially using PIC microcontrollers
  • Digital and analog circuit design
  • C programming and other high-level control software languages
  • PCB design tools and automated hardware assembly methodologies

Strong understanding of:

  • Control algorithm development.
  • Hardware development lifecycle from prototyping to production release
  • Software development best practices including version control testing and integration
  • Engineering tools such as LabVIEW and MATLAB

The estimated salary range for this position is $113868-$61 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors such as skills experience and work location and is not typically at the top of the range.
