SALARY:$21.06 - 30.03 Per Hour

Job Purpose Statement/s: The position of Dining Services Manager is for the purpose of planning and directing the overall operation of a school kitchen at an elementary or middle school and includes the training and supervision of cafeteria employees and student helpers to assist in preparing and serving daily menus.

Job Requirements - Qualifications:
Skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including students; plan organize and supervise the work routine of a number of dining services workers within a tightly structured timeframe; plan daily food preparation activities based on that days menu and projected meal count. Must be methodical well organized and able to multi-task;
Knowledge of cooking and baking terminology and methods for preparing and serving large quantities of food items; purchasing and inventory control methods related to small and large volume food and related kitchen supplies ordering and inventory management; methods for handling and storing foods including perishable items basic math weights and measures; Federal and state rules related to preparing and serving school lunches; District foods dining services policies and procedures; use care and cleaning of fool preparation and service equipment including conventional and convection ovens mixers slicers fryers dishwashers warmers steam tables; and kitchen sanitation and safe work practices.
Ability to; adapt recipes to available ingredients and required number of portions and judge portion size; substitute food items of equal nutritional value; read and interpret recipes and menus; respond quickly and appropriately to routine problems with menu changes food item shortages or staffing levels; prepare and maintain moderately complex financial and related records for the school lunch program; understand and carry out oral and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work including students.
Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Sufficient education to read and comprehend written instructions related to basic food preparation and the operation of kitchen equipment; and to make basic arithmetic calculations.
Licenses Bonding and/or Testing Required: Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
Other: Appropriate Food Handler Permit is required and possession of state required Person In Charge licensure.
Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boards Policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel.
