Position Purpose
The Deputy Director of The Exeter Fund is a leadership role responsible for helping the Director to manage and oversee The Exeter Fund program. This role will lead a team of individuals and collaborate closely with other departments to develop and implement strategies to cultivate solicit and steward Exeter Fund donors. The primary goal will be to increase donor participation and revenue ensuring the long-term sustainability of The Exeter Funds fundraising efforts.
Job Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Supervise mentor and provide guidance to a team of annual giving professionals.
- Set performance goals conduct annual performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages teamwork creativity and professional growth.
Strategy Development and Implementation
- In collaboration with the Assoc. Director of Advancement Communication develops and oversees the Exeter Fund communications strategy: days of giving appeals and communication projects.
- Develop and execute comprehensive Exeter Fund strategies to engage retain and upgrade donors.
- Collaborate with the Director of The Exeter Fund to set goals establish metrics and track progress toward fundraising targets.
- Utilize data analytics and industry best practices to identify trends opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Oversee young alumni (15 years out from graduation) fundraising program.
Donor Cultivation and Solicitation
- Build and maintain relationships and solicit and steward prospects in a leadership gift portfolio.
- Develop personalized solicitation strategies including direct mail and email and online social media campaigns.
- Collaborates with the Assoc. Director of Advancement Communication and communications team to create compelling fundraising materials and impactful messaging.
Donor Stewardship and Recognition
- Work with Donor Relations to implement effective stewardship practices to ensure donors feel valued appreciated and connected to Exeters mission.
- Oversee The Exeter Fund acknowledgement process including timely gift acknowledgments and personalized thank-you communications.
- Develop and manage Exeter Fund donor recognition societies to acknowledge and honor major donors and loyal supporters.
Budgeting and Reporting
- Assist in the development and management of The Exeter Fund budget ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
- Oversee the preparation of regular reports on fundraising progress donor acquisition and retention rates and other key performance indicators.
- Monitor analyzation of fundraising data to identify trends evaluate campaign effectiveness and recommend adjustments as needed.

- Proficient in using Blackbaud RENXT fundraising software donor databases and data analytics tools.
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices industry trends and ethics.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Assistant Director Program Managers (2) and Program Assistant
Position Requirements
- Bachelors Degree required.
- Minimum of 1 year of Management experience required more than 3 years preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in annual giving or related fundraising role with demonstrated success in donor cultivation and solicitation.
- Previous experience in a college or private secondary school development office working with a volunteer-based organization preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word Excel Adobe Suite I Modules and PowerPoint.
Additional Requirements
- Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewed every 5 years).
- Clean Driving record (reviewed annually).
