SUMMARY:
The Veterinary Technician at BTC will support the hand-on learning that BTC offers in the Veterinary Technician program. This position will help students learn by supervising students in clinical and laboratory settings preparing lab materials and assisting with the delivery of instruction.
SALARY:
The salary is $5528 per month. In months when there are school breaks pay will be reduced. Position also receives sick personal and vacation leave accruals paid state holidays Washington State insurance and retirement benefits package and some tuition waiver benefits.
DESCRIPTION:
Bellingham Technical College invites applications for the following professional exempt Licensed Veterinary Technician position. This is an exempt non-represented full-time 10 month (Sep-June) annually continuous position. The position reports to the Dean of Professional Technical Education with direction from the program instructors. The position will start in September 2025.
Under the direction of program faculty the Veterinary Technician provides instructional and technical support to the Veterinary Technician program. The position is responsible for assisting with the preparation and delivery of lab instruction demonstrating and performing common veterinary procedures and humane animal restraint techniques and supervising students in clinical and laboratory settings. The Veterinary Technician helps ensure student safety and learning by overseeing the performance of medical procedures providing guidance and evaluation and maintaining a clean organized and well-equipped lab environment. Responsibilities also include preparing lab materials organizing storage areas and supporting a high-quality hands-on learning experience that meets AVMA-accredited program standards.

Work schedule will vary but is generally Monday through Friday during the 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. workday about 40 hours per week; however schedule may vary including working more than 40 hours as needed as well as some weekends and evening work. This is a 10-month assignment with scheduled leave without pay periods generally during December/January March/April July/August/September each year.
Position receives 8 hours per month of sick leave 16 hours per month of vacation leave 24 hours of personal leave and 12 paid state/college holidays per calendar year. Benefits also include a Washington State insurance package including medical dental vision life insurance and long-term disability; a retirement benefits package with choice between the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) Plan 3 or the State Board Retirement Plan (SBRP) 401A plan TIAA.
