Job Title: HR Generalist/Payroll Associate

Location: Friends School of Baltimore - Baltimore MD 21210

Reports to: Director of Human Resources

Employment Type: Full-time

Pay Range: $25-28

Friends School is a Quaker co-educational college preparatory school Pre-K through Grade 12 in Baltimore City enrolling 803 students 44% of whom identify as children of color. Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HR Generalist/Payroll Associate to support our human resources functions with a strong emphasis on payroll processing. This role plays a critical part in ensuring our staff are supported with timely accurate compensation and that our HR operations reflect the values of our Quaker community.

Qualifications


  • Minimum 3 years of experience processing payroll (required)

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Human Resources Accounting or related field preferred

  • Familiarity with employment law payroll tax regulations and HR best practices

  • Experience with HRIS and payroll software (iSolved preferred)

  • Excellent organizational skills attention to detail and confidentiality

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

  1. Payroll (Primary Focus - Approx. 50-60%)

    • Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for faculty and staff using payroll system iSolved

    • Maintain accurate records of payroll transactions including earnings deductions and benefit contributions

    • Ensure compliance with federal state and local payroll wage and hour laws and best practices

    • Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries in a timely supportive manner

    • Collaborate with the Business Office on benefits retirement plan contributions and year-end reporting (e.g. W-2s)

    HR Generalist Duties

    • Maintain employee records and assist with onboarding and offboarding processes

    • Track and manage paid time off FMLA and other leave types

    • Assist in recruitment processes: posting jobs scheduling interviews and communicating with candidates

    • Ensure compliance with HR-related policies and procedures and participate in policy updates and implementation

    • Maintain HRIS data integrity and support internal reporting needs
