The role
As Group Senior Manager Finance at Value NSW youll shape the financial direction of an organisation that delivers critical valuation services for the Valuer General as well as Local and State Government. Working closely with the CEO youll be the lead financial advisor for the agency and the driving force behind the agencies long term financial innovation compliance and sustainability.
This role will have you play a central role in forecasting reporting and risk managementliaising with NSW Treasury TCorp and other key stakeholders to ensure financial sustainability. From managing cash flow and financial controls to supporting submissions to regulatory bodies like IPART your expertise will keep operations running smoothly and strategically. What you will bring to the role
- Proven ability to deliver strategic financial insights that support executive decision-making and long-term planning.
- Deep understanding of financial legislation and standards including the Government Sector Finance Act 2018 Treasurers Directions IPART requirements and Australian Accounting Standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of navigating complex financial challenges and developing innovative practical solutions.
- Exceptional communication skillscapable of translating complex financial information into clear actionable advice for diverse stakeholders.
- Collaborative leadership style with experience in building capability mentoring teams and fostering cross-functional partnerships.
What is an essential requirement:
- Tertiary qualification in finance economics or related discipline.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence and the ability and willingness to travel for work.

- Making more than 2.7 million residential rural commercial and industrial valuations annually with a total value of approximately $3 trillion as well as managing compulsory acquisition determinations in situations where government cannot reach agreement totalling over $1 billion per annum
- Delivering customer services and experience for 2.7 million landholders per annum receiving up to 50000 calls and many more enquiries
- Monitoring assurance and governance pertaining to the quality of the valuations undertaken relevant to both the Valuation of Land Act 1916 and the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991.
In addition VNSW provides other specialised valuation activities services and determinations for other cluster or statewide government partners including being responsible for the delivery of all valuations for government property transactions as defined by the Government Property Framework and Treasurers Directions as well as more than $84 billion in government asset valuations for financial accounting purposes.
