Executive Producer - CBC News Parliamentary Bureau

The pace of change in Canadian politics is at a level not seen in decades spurred by a political landscape being reshaped by a new prime minister and a new dynamic on Parliament Hill with global disruptions forcing Canada to re-imagine its most important trade and security relationships.

It means the job of CBC News Parliamentary Bureau is as important and challenging as ever. CBC News is looking for an exceptional editorial leader with a focus on driving news and staff development to lead the daily political news coverage as an Executive Producer in the Parliamentary Bureau.

Reporting to the Parliamentary Bureaus Director of Journalism you will support a team of journalists to unearth explain and report political news through compelling storytelling programs podcasts and live coverage on all platforms.

In this role you are the first stop for the team around legal issues and questions involving the CBCs Journalistic Standards and Practices ensuring your team is providing fair balanced accurate thoughtful and immediate coverage.

You know how to build a respectful newsroom culture where people are motivated to support each other in delivering journalism that resonates with Canadians and helps them make sense of federal politics meets the CBC News strategy to grow new audiences and the mission of being live and breaking.

Overseeing a team of senior producers youll work with colleagues across the CBC News division sharing both content and expertise across platforms and programs in support of CBCs goals.

While editorial excellence is an important focus of this job it also requires exceptional leadership skills. Working with the Director youll guide and support your senior producers as they help staff grow and develop. You provide regular feedback to team members including producers hosts writers and associate producers. You work with the Assignment Producers to schedule teams and drive editorial. You care for the physical and mental wellbeing of your team and co-ordinate support with the Director as required.
