Responsible for providing comprehensive support for the planning development implementation evaluation and exercise of public health emergency preparedness (PHEP) efforts in the Brazos County area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for supervising the activities of staff assigned to the PHEP Division. In addition may be responsible for supervising various district staff involved in a large-scale PHEP response.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
At least two years participating in activities involving planning for the prevention of or response to emergencies involving the use of a WMD or response to other public health threats. A bachelors degree (in public health or related field) or related experience required. Experience in a public safety or emergency management discipline is desired but not mandatory.
KNOWLEDGE OF
Must be familiar with the general provision of public health services. Basic knowledge of biological and chemical warfare agents and the process to create plans/procedures to reduce the effects of resulting from the terroristic use of WMD. Basic public health in the area of emergency preparedness. Basic concepts of planning training and exercising principles and methodologies. Local state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to emergency management. Hospital preparedness and collaborative process with clinical staff. Records management and data quality assurance techniques tools and methodologies. Basic knowledge of the National Incident Management System.
SKILLS/ABILITY TO
Must possess the ability to make proper decisions under stressful situations and to manage the impact of situations affecting the health and safety of possibly large numbers of individuals. Must have the ability to gather analyze and accurately report complex data to higher authorities. Must have the ability to work productively with little supervision. Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English orally and in writing. Must have the ability and desire to work unselfishly and congenially with other professionals.
CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License and dependable vehicle.
FEMA Courses: NIMSOnline. (NIMS Courses: 300 and 400 can be taken when available after hired In classroom courses)
