JOB SUMMARY

Were looking for a Measure Technician to join our team serving the new construction and remodeling housing markets. The ideal professional for this position will have excellent communication skills along with the technical ability to provide accurate jobsite measurement and installation information for purposes of estimating the sale and installation of flooring projects. This position reports to the Store Manager. Depending on the service area the Measure Technician will be based out of our Middleton showroom in the Madison area or our New Berlin showroom in the Milwaukee area. The Measure Technician works a full-time first-shift schedule Monday to Friday.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Travel to jobsites and arrive at the scheduled time.
  • Measure designated areas following company policies and procedures and uncover potentially hidden jobs cost.
  • Process measure information in a timely manner.
  • Advise sales staff of all details relating to the job.
  • Act as the liaison between the sales staff and the customer when required.
  • Monitor job progress to ensure the installation meets the customers expectations and is being accomplished in a safe and professional manner as required.
  • Maintain general knowledge about all facets of flooring product and installation procedures.
  • Plan daily driven route in a cost-effective manner and adapt to schedule changes based on project demands.
  • May assist with special requests related to customer projects and showroom maintenance.
  • Follow and enforce all safety policies and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company guidelines policies and procedures and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.   • 2 years of work experience applying building and measurement skills in the construction industry.
  • Previous work experience as a carpet or flooring installer preferred.
  • Previous work experience in customer service and/or supporting sales or project teams.
  • Previous work experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have a valid driver license and meet our minimum standards following a Motor Vehicle Record review at time of job offer and at regular intervals while employed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without restriction and on a regular basis.
  • Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing for training and project updates and to independently handle external and internal requests.
  • Math skills acquired through high school diploma or equivalent to record measurements calculate fractions and percentages convert square feet and square yards and understand basic financial transactions.
