Job Description

Overview

As an Outreach support volunteer you will play a pivotal role within the local community promoting our services andengaging with ourservice usersand partner agencies.

We are a free and confidential drug and alcohol service for adults young adults families carers and affected others across the Wirral. We provide a non-judgemental service with qualified experienced staff and volunteers who offer support in health & wellbeing and substance misuse. We can talk to you in several supportive environments all which have a friendly atmosphere and provide you with information to help you reduce your substance misuse or to become abstinent.

We are part of Change Grow Live a national health and social care charity which provides a range of treatment recovery and support services for those who have concerns about their drug or alcohol use.

Responsibilities

Your role will be to support the team to engage and support individuals who are experiencing homelessness and have multiple needs/substance misuse. You will be responding to referrals targeting known locations within the community actively engaging and building a positive relationship with people who are experiencing problems with substance misuse.

As part of a team you will be working with partner agencies signposting individuals empowering and assisting them to access relevant services. Advocating for them and supporting them to achieve their goals and make positive changes as well as managing expectations of all involved.

Outreach can be fast paced and challenging role so you will need to be responsive and adaptable with the ability to work quickly and effectively. This role can involve working anti-social hours and at times in adverse weather conditions carrying essential provisions such as food and paperwork so you will need to be to be flexible and resilient.

No two days are the same and you can really make a difference in helping to keep people safe. You will be provided with all the skills training and support to undertake the role. Supporting rough sleepers is really rewarding and you can make a real difference to somebodys life. This is the perfect role for a sociable and outgoing person who wants to help their community.

Youwill besupporting the teamto re-engage clients when they have dropped out of treatment advising them of the services availableand offering them the knowledge and advice to enable them to keep themselves will also be assisting thestaff to undertake home visits and engage with those who are unable to attend our services.
