About the role

As ourPolicy and Advocacy Lead Emerging Communications youll be the driving force behind our efforts to influence government policy and improve the digital platform space for everyone. Youll work closely with our Policy & Regulatory Affairs and Media & Communications teams to design advocacy campaigns build powerful stakeholder relationships and shape the future of digital regulation.

What youll be doing

  • Lead the chargeon strategic advocacy campaigns that make a difference.
  • Build bridgeswith government regulators industry and consumer groups.
  • Craft compelling policysubmissions briefings and reports that influence decision-makers.
  • Stay ahead of the curveby monitoring trends and emerging issues in the digital space.
  • Communicate with impactfrom stakeholder strategies to sharp persuasive messaging.
  • Mentor and guideour new Senior Policy and Advocacy Officer.

Who you will work with

You will collaborate with a dynamic mix of leaders and changemakersthe Ombudsman senior executives media pros and policy expertsplus key players across government industry and advocacy groups.



Skills And Experiences

Must-haves:

  • A degree in Law Public Policy Political Science or similar.
  • Proven experience in advocacy campaigns and government relations.
  • Strong policy chops and a knack for strategic communication.
  • A solid grasp of legal concepts and political processes.
  • Leadership skills and a collaborative spirit.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Knowledge of the digital platforms sector.
  • Familiarity with external dispute resolution schemes.

This is a 12-month maximum term appointment paid at Grade 5 of the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman Enterprise Agreement 2024.
