Job Title: Project Coordinator

Department: Marketing

Exemption: Non-exempt/Hourly

The Opportunity:

The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is seeking a highly organized detail-oriented and proactive Project Coordinator to support our fast-paced and collaborative Marketing and Communications team. In this role you will help manage projects from concept to completionensuring they are delivered on time within scope and budget. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a mission-driven organization focused on wildlife conservation education and community engagement.

Position Summary:

The Project Coordinator will serve as the central point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on marketing and communications-related projects. This individual will be responsible for resource coordination timeline tracking documentation and status updates helping the department maintain efficiency communication clarity and project momentum.

The ideal candidate has strong problem-solving skills exceptional organizational habits and a solution-oriented mindset. They thrive in a collaborative environment and excel at managing details while keeping big-picture goals in sight.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and resources to support and execute marketing and communications projects.
  • Develop project timelines scopes and deliverables based on department goals and organizational priorities.
  • Track progress update timelines and ensure deliverables are met within deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Document project goals milestones feedback and status in clear organized formats for team and leadership reference.
  • Communicate project updates risks and blockers to internal stakeholders promptly and effectively.
  • Support Marketing Managers in the development and execution of strategic initiatives and campaigns.
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating project risks; escalate issues as needed.
  • Schedule and facilitate internal planning meetings manage agendas and ensure follow-up actions are tracked and completed.
  • Maintain resource calendars and assist in workload balancing across the marketing team.
  • Support administrative tasks that keep marketing and communications operations running smoothly.
  • Serve as a collaborative team player embodying flexibility positivity and accountability.


Requirements

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferably in communications project management marketing business administration or a related field. An equivalent combination of education training and experience may be considered.
  • 12 years of professional experience in project coordination marketing or operations support (preferred but not required).
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. Trello Asana ) is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A solutions-focused approach eagerness to learn and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Working knowledge of marketing tools such as Adobe Creative Suite WordPress and email platforms is a plus.

Physical Position Description:

Essential Physical Tasks: Occasional standing walking bending twisting lifting up to 25 lbs.

Typical Working Conditions: Primarily an office environment occasionally on-grounds for meetings shoots or events.

Holiday/Evening Work: Occasional holiday weekend and evening work is required depending on project timelines.

Travel: Occasional travel to vendors partners and on-location project sites.

Licenses and/or Certificates:

Must hold a valid California Drivers License and be insurable on The Living Deserts auto policy.

Salary Description
$24.00 - $25.00 per hour
